Hello I recently got Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11.5 by Nuance to help me become a better writer by using my voice to write. It costs $89.99 on Amazon elsewhere it’s $199.00. They also have a Home version for $44.99 on Amazon elsewhere its $99.99. I love shopping on Amazon because of all the savings. I wonder why Best Buy is even still in business when Amazon is around.
Dragon seems to work way better than the built-in recognition by Microsoft on Windows Vista and Seven. I can’t believe how accurate this is out-of-the-box with only a little bit of training. I guess that’s because it uses its own database. It takes a little getting used to and learning, for example you have to say period when you want to place a period in a document. Also to delete all the text in an input area you have to say select all and then say press backspace. So it’s not exactly like talking somebody else because you have to say your punctuation out loud to it but it’s pretty close.
I haven’t used it that much yet but I’m liking it already. I plan to use it for my blog posts, e-mails and pretty much everything else. With the premium edition you use multiple microphones on the same profile. Premium also has a little bit of personal assistant features like searching the web. it runs in a bar at the top of your screen where you can turn on and off your microphone and access other settings of the application.
Also the premium version has a transcribe feature for MP3s not sure if the home version has it. I haven’t used it yet but it seems like a neat feature. So like if you’re away from the computer you could record a story or blog post on an MP3 and the load it in to the computer later I’m guessing.
I knew about Dragon for years but never wanted to try it due to them not having a trial on their website and the cost of it. But I learned that Siri voice recognition is by Nuance so I decide that it must be really good if Apple trusts them as I was very skeptical at first. So that was the pushing point for me to go ahead and order Dragon. I’m glad I did! So these are my thoughts on the program so far and I like. I give it 5 out of 5 stars so far as I haven’t found any issues.
