MacKeeper Review

Mac users like me want a fast running machine, Not full of junk. I love to save disk space. I use multiple apps to try to keep my Mac running smoothly. All have different interfaces, some are free and some cost. It’s a mess. I used to run them a lot when I was new to Mac but now days I hardly use them. I forget some of the tools I used in the past and i mentioned some before. I was planing on mentioning more. Well now I don’t have to mention anymore as MacKeeper is an All in one tool that does what I would do with multiple apps. Continue reading

Favorite Steve Jobs Quotations

Here are some of my Favorite quotations by Steve Jobs. I wrote under them my thoughts.

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

This is from the Apple Think different advertising campaign. I think it’s a very true saying.  This is a very inspirational commercial. Most ads are never inspirational, this one is different.

This is a never before aired version of that commercial narrated by Steve Jobs. The one that aired was narrated by Richard Dreyfuss. I like the one narrated by Steve Jobs better. Continue reading

R.I.P Steve Jobs

Today on October 5th, Steve Jobs has passed away. A sad day. He was only 56. Steve Jobs inspired me and a lot of people. He left behind a lot of innovations like the Mac, iPod, iPhone and iPad. He built a major app ecosystem that helped small developers hit big. He stayed with Apple till he died. Can many other people say that stayed with the company they love till death, no. He was a very dedicated man. People back then thought personal computers would never work out and wanted him to give up. He didn’t, he kept in the game while everyone else thought his ideas wasn’t that great but he stuck with it and proved people wrong. Now look at Apple, the company he co-founded. A very profitable company. Steve did things most of us would not do. He took big risks. I think he did what he felt was right by his heart. He changed the whole technology world. I never knew Steve Jobs personally. Only what I read, watched and heard about him. I will miss his keynotes also. I already wanted to meet him in person or visit one of his keynotes in person. He seemed like a great and a unique guy.

Six of my favorite photos I took

Photography is an interest of mine even though I don’t have a DSLR but I want a DSLR. All the pictures on this page I took with a Samsung S860 I got in early 2008. Its 8.1MP! Almost 4 years old. Not sure if it would be worth upgrading to a newer point and shoot or not for now till I get a DSLR not sure how long could be a year or a few till I get a DSLR. It takes great photos inside but not great photos with low light even dim lights. It like blurs them. Would a DSLR do that? I looked at 2 memory cards of photos and found 6 of my favorite photos I took.

Completely Uninstall Windows Apps

At the end of July I wrote a post on how to Completely Uninstall Mac Apps. Most programs on windows normally include a uninstaller. Some of the app uninstallers leaves behind files and registry entries. So to completely uninstall Windows programs you can use a tool called Revo Uninstaller which you can download it at http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. You can get a pro and free version. I personally use the free version and i think it works just fine but the pro version has more features which you might find interesting for you, so you can check out the chart on the download page.

Double click on the program you want to uninstall and then click yes. It then asks you to select a uninstall mode and I always pick advance as it seems to work for me then I click Next.

It then creates a restore point and then analyse the app. It then asks you if you are sure that you want to completely remove the program and all of its components starts the built-in install, follow that like a normal uninstall. Once the normal uninstaller finishes it goes back to Revo and then you can press next.

Revo then scans for leftover files and registry entries, this might take a while. When it’s complete the green bar will be 100% full and you may press next.

Select the files you want to delete and press delete. I normally just press select all and then delete. Then wait while it deletes the files, then press next. Then it normally shows registry entries if you have any, I didn’t for this app so couldn’t show that but it’s basically the same as the leftover file. Then press next, your done with Revo. Uninstall another program or empty your trash if you want.

Fake Steve Jobs Photo?

I’m an Apple fan. I don’t read TMZ but someone I follow tweeted out a link to a Photo of Steve Jobs. He looks very sick. The picture is below:

At first I thought “Oh Steve looks really bad and sick.” after seeing that picture. Thought maybe his friends was taking him home from a doctor visit. I even cried a little. I paused for a while and then I went on with my business. Wrote some content for iGeekable, watched a few YouTube videos and Did a video call. I kept wondering about his picture. I guess he even posed for them to take the picture according to a comment I was reading. Seems kind of unlike him? Looking at it again. I downloaded the image, and zoomed in. From far away it looks like he’s wearing shorts. I zoomed in.

They don’t really look like shorts, unless they were like twisted in some way which is a possibly, not denying that. It looks like he’s wearing a black dress. Continue reading

Blue Yeti Review

As some people know I have wanted to start a tech podcast. Its something I talked about. So I decided to stop talking about it and start working towards getting it started. I’m starting a tech podcast called iGeekable. One of the things I needed was a great quality microphone, so I will sound like a professional and not just another kid starting a podcast. I started by asking some of my friends and got recommendations for Microphones. I already knew about Blue and was going to get a Snowball, but the Yeti also stood out. I then went to YouTube and searched for “Blue Yeti audio test”. I stumbleupon a video by tldtoday which has tech reviews. The video compared the Blue Yeti, Snowball and an Audio Technica AT2020. I also found other videos comparing mics. The Yeti sounds like a true winner compared to other mics. I then said “I gotta have that Mic!”.

The Blue Yeti MSRP is $149.99. I then started looking online to see where I can get the best deal. I checked Best Buy’s website and found it as I normally check the website and go to the store to get it the same day, but also not sure if a local store would have it as some stuff they don’t even carry. I checked Amazon and seen that it was $98.99 and ordered it. That’s like 50 bucks off! I don’t normally buy online and I hate waiting, I used the super saver shipping. I put my order in on August 15 and got in on August 18. So by waiting and not buying it at Best Buy and getting it same day I saved 50 bucks plus I didn’t need it right away as Chris’s MacBook Pro is having over heating issues and is in the shop so we could not start right away anyways. So I think I will shop using Amazon over Best Buy for now when I can save money, I still might go to Best Buy to check out a gadget before I go home to buy it on Amazon.

  1. Stereo is for Vocals, Choir and instruments.
  2. Cardioid is for Podcasts, voiceovers, vocals and instruments. I think I will use Cardioid the most often.
  3. Omnidirectional is for Conference calls, field recordings and events/orchestras.
  4.  Lastly Bidirectional is for interviews, instruments and vocal duets.
Another thing the box had on it that stands out is how it lists the definitions of Yeti. I think it’s really cute the way they did it.
  1. Legendary ape-like creature who roams the Himalayas.
  2. An incredibly versatile USB microphone found worldwide.
I like how its a professional and serious microphone, yet they can have so much fun and creative with it! So I then unboxed it. I plugged it in to my laptop and adjusted some of the audio levels in Windows and put it in the Cardioid mode. I plugged in the headphones I ordered also. I could hear my computer and my voice! It was really simple to set up. I then made some Skype calls to people to ask them what they think of the Yeti audio and one person told me with my old mic i sounded like a 12 year old and with my Yeti i sound 48. That put a smile on my face. Below is a before and after comparing my old mic and new mic. I originally recorded theses are a test for iGeekable, was testing the audio player on that site.

I can tell right away that the Blue Yeti sounds way clearer!

Another thing about the Yeti is that it’s really sensitive. If I turn up my volume to 100% and the Mic is not even at 100% I can hear the television upstairs, I can’t really make it out but I can hear it. On my desk each time i type in the keyboard you can hear like lite hitting sound on the desk it picks up. Not going to blame that on the Yeti. I think i need to put the mic on another surface other than my desk, get a stand or find a workaround. Not sure what to do about that television that’s on all the time since I live with other people and can’t really kick them out. I live downstairs and there is stairs to the upstairs, not really a door between them to cut off sound. I am an audio noob that wants to sound professional. I don’t have a studio like the record companies have and I don’t want to go crazy spending money. I want to do it on the budget, so I need to find a way to isolate the other sounds. Not really sure how, if you have any tips leave them in the comments?

I give this Microphone a 5 out of 5. You can check it out at Amazon here.

Thoughts on online dating

I am interested in Online dating somewhat. I have joined dating sites like eHarmony and Zoosk, both sites i deleted my account on. I have a few problems with websites just for dating. They want money, but they also don’t have banner ads so someone has to to pay the bills. So they have to make money, but I’m not sure if its something worth paying for. eHarmony didn’t show profile pictures without paying, Zoosk did show pictures for free. Both of them require you to pay money to communicate. Another thing I don’t like about both Zoosk and eHarmony is that you can only list if you’re interested in “Men” or “Woman”. You can’t list “Men and Woman”. Seems like they both are leaving out bisexual people.

So I think sites that are designed for just only dating aren’t that great. I think it would be better to meet someone over Twitter or chat rooms. Maybe even on Facebook as in maybe they have a mutual friends. So I think its possible to find your prefect match online for free. I think I would rather find someone online and then do online video chats to get to know them and feel more comfortable. Then do offline dating.

I really want to move to San Francisco and build a company also. So I’m not in to dating really right now, but sometimes I will feel lonely and wish I was dating. I think I would date someone who’s in to technology, Moderate politically, healthily, nice and cute. Also religion of them won’t matter really to me as I’m not a religious person but maybe they could help change that.

I also think a kid or a few would be okay, but it’s not something I want to do right now. I see children as getting in my way. I want to build something and do financially well.  Maybe adopt or have kids when I’m 30 or 40.

So far theses are my thoughts on online dating and just dating in general.

Thoughts on religion

When I was younger and uneducated I believed in god because my mom did and she called her self a christian but we never went to church. Back then I thought going to church would be cool but my step dad was like church is just about money and crap. I thought he was crazy, but he said believing in god is all that matters no church needed. Plus you shall not kill or steal. I would pray sometimes at night before but I never really made it in to a habit. Most of the times I would ask god for a new toy. I thought of him like some magical creature. None of the toys I asked for magically showed up when I woke up. I put god and santa in the same category. I kind of started disbelieving in him but other people told me I was doing it wrong, you don’t ask him for stuff. Plus family told me he’s real because he’s the only reason this earth and I exists. Continue reading
